Green IT Guru, and long-time friend of Binary Ink, Kate Craig-Wood is preparing to jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane at 29,000ft to parachute onto Mt.Everest.

She’s performing this act of insanity to raise awareness of the issues facing women in the technology sector, and to raise money for Computer Clubs for Girls who are working to encourage the next generation of girl geeks.

Finance House is a commercial rental property in the heart of Guildford’s town centre. Its owners wanted to increase the potential audience for the property by adding an online presence.

I developed a “brochure” website, based on WordPress, that has a close visual tie-in with their existing print marketing and extends the existing brand identity into a new medium.

The owners of the beautiful spanish casita, Al Ladino, wanted to make their website easier to manage without changing the existing design.

We set-up a custom installation of WordPress to act as a Content Management System (CMS) for easy updates and changes to the copy. The existing website design was then converted into a WordPress theme, making the transition practically seamless for site visitors.

Beebware Ltd approached me to create a design for the company website, promoting their web development and IT consultancy services.

The brief was for a modern, clean design which made reference to the history of computing, as the company began writing software for BBC systems back in the 1990s.

Jump Everest

In October this year, Kate Craig-Wood will be one of a small group of daredevils to make history by skydiving onto Mount Everest.

Kate needed a website to encourage sponsorship (on behalf of Computer Clubs for Girls), and I’m delighted that she chose to come back to binary ink.

Kate’s personal website was in need of a fresh look in time for the publication of an exclusive article in the Sunday times. The new design had to integrate with the existing “back-end”.

The brief was for a softer, modern and more welcoming look and feel. Custom graphics were created to emphasise the client’s personal interests, without swamping the written content.

Disasters Emergency Committee Myanmar Appeal

The Disasters Emergency Committee (of which Oxfam is a member) has launched an urgent appeal to fund aid work in the areas of Myanmar which were devastated by Cyclone Nargis in the early hours of Saturday 3rd May.

Upwards of 22,000 people have been lost in the tragedy, and over a million are now in desperate need of shelter, clean water, food and medical care.
